Dallas Cup Recap: TFC III vs. Red Bull Brazil

GA Cup Game 1

Dallas – On a windy Sunday afternoon, Toronto FC III opened their 2017 Dallas Cup against Red Bull Brazil with a hard fought 2-1 victory. Coach Danny Dichio’s TFC III squad withstood an early Red Bull barrage to come away with the victory.

The Reds battled the elements in the opening half as the squad was forced to play into a very strong wind. However, Shaan Hundal and Matthew Srbely combined to open the scoring. Srbely played a powerful through ball for Hundal to run onto. Hundal outpaced the Red Bull defenders, but the keeper stopped his initial shot. Luckily, the rebound landed right on Hundal’s right foot and the striker made no mistake sliding home the 2nd chance.

TFC III was able to hold off the physical and relentless pressure from the Red Bull and headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Early in the second half, Hundal would find the back of the net once again. Liam Fraser made a clever play and headed the ball over the top for Hundal who raced in and slide it through the keeper’s legs.

Red Bull Brazil would get one back late in the second half after keeper Gianluca Catalano came out to grab a dangerous ball, but was chipped by the Red Bull forward.

Following the game, the squad headed over to the Cotton Bowl for the 2017 Dallas Cup opening ceremonies.
