Toronto FC II Exercise Contract Options on 6 Players

One player option not exercised, five players out of contract

Toronto FC II announced Monday that it has exercised contract options on six players, while four players are already under guaranteed contract for the 2017 season. The club has also re-signed midfielder Bubacarr Jobe to USL contract. The exercised options and re-signing are pending league and federation approval.


Toronto FC II has picked up the contract options on defenders Mitchell Taintor, Anthony Osorio; midfielders Brian James, Luca Uccello; forwards Raheem Edwards and Ricardo John. 


The four players already under contract for the 2017 season are midfielders Aidan Daniels, Malik Johnson, Liam Fraser and forward Shaan Hundal.


“As we look to build on the positives from the team’s second season in the USL, our goal continues to be to develop our homegrown and drafted talent into first team players while fielding a competitive side,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Providing the opportunity to play meaningful games in a professional environment will be vital to their growth as young professionals. We are also currently in talks to re-sign Ben Spencer to bring him back for the 2017 season.”


Toronto FC II have not exercised the option on midfielder Martin Davis. In addition, defenders Skylar Thomas, Wesley Charpie; midfielders Adam Bouchard, Sal Bernal and forward Ben Spencer’s contracts will expire at the end of the year making them free agents.


Following the expiry of their loans, goalkeeper Nathan Ingham has returned to FC Edmonton of the North American Soccer League (NASL) and defender Triston Hodge has returned to W Connection F.C. of the TT Pro League.

Defenders (2): Mitchell Taintor, Anthony Osorio
