Jozy Altidore Named To MLS All-Star Game

Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore was named to the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game roster ahead of tonight’s match against Tottenham Hotspur at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the Denver suburb of Commerce City, Colorado. Altidore replaces Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco, who was ruled out due to injury following a medical examination yesterday in Denver. Toronto FC midfielder and Captain Michael Bradley was also ruled out due to injury on Tuesday.


Altidore, 25, is currently in his first season with Toronto FC. To date he has made a combined 16 appearances and scored eight goals between MLS league play and the Amway Canadian Championship this season. He was named MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters for the opening week of the season. In addition, Altidore has been named to the MLS Team of the Week on two occasions this season (Week 1 and Week 8).


This is Altidore’s first MLS All-Star team selection. Toronto FC’s All-time All-Star player list includes: Ronnie O’Brien (2007), Jimmy Brennan (2008), Dwayne De Rosario (2009, 2010), Jermain Defoe (2014 – did not play due to injury), Michael Bradley (2014, 2015 – will not play due to injury) and Sebastian Giovinco (2015 – will not play due to injury).
