Aguero, Silva, & Hart Confirmed for May 27th

The newly renovated BMO Field will host its first international friendly since re-opening when Barclays Premier League club Manchester City F.C. faces Toronto FC on Wednesday, May 27. The club will be traveling with their entire roster of non-injured players, featuring Argentine international Sergio Agüero, Spanish international David Silva and England’s starting goalkeeper Joe Hart.


We are all very excited to host Manchester City next week at BMO Field,” said Toronto FC midfielder and captain Michael Bradley. “Their roster is full of world class players and this match represents a great opportunity for our club to compete against some of the very best in Europe."


In addition to the friendly, fans will be able to attend a full squad open training session on Tuesday, May 26 starting at 6:30 p.m. Club manager Manuel Pellegrini will be available to media during his press conference prior to the training session. “We are looking forward to returning to Canada for the first time since 2011,” said Manchester City Manager Manuel Pellegrini. “We know we have a strong group of supporters in Toronto and we are excited to play in front of them.”


Founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton), the club officially became known as Manchester City in 1894. Manchester City is regarded as one of the top teams in England having won four First Division/Premier League titles, most recently during the 2013 -14 season. In addition, the club has won five FA Cups, three Football League Cups, four FA Community Shield’s and one UEFA Cup Winners Cup.


The match will is set for a 7:00p.m. ET kick-off and can be seen on TSN 1, 3, 4 and 5.
