Quillan Roberts earns first cap for Canada

Canada defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 in their final friendly during the international break.


Tosaint Ricketts, Randy Edwini-Bonsu and Cyle Larin scored for the Canadians in Bayamon, increasing their unbeaten run in CONCACAF to four games.


It was a special game for Toronto FC goalkeeper Quillan Roberts. The Brampton native earned his first cap for Canada, replacing Milan Borjan in the 84th minute.


The 20-year-old took to Twitter to express his delight at getting the call from head coach Benito Floro.

Toronto FC II captain Chris Mannella was also called up to the Canadian squad, but didn’t feature in games against Guatemala and Puerto Rico. Canada begins the qualification process for the 2018 World Cup this June. The men will play Dominica in a home-and-away series in the second round of qualifying.
