Toronto FC selected midfielder Marco Delgado with the 14th pick in the Chivas USA dispersal draft on Wednesday.

Delgado has played both fullback positions as well as midfield, making 37 appearances for Chivas USA since 2012.

In fact it was Greg Vanney that signed Delgado as a homegrown player when the TFC head coach was at Chivas USA.

"We're pleased he dropped to 14," Vanney said following the draft. "That surprised us, we felt we were fortunate to get him.

"He's a good athlete and has a bright future ahead of him. He's an under-20 national team player for the United States."

The 19-year-old possesses a ton of potential, but has dealt with minor knee injuries in the past two seasons.

"We look forward to getting him here, getting him healthy and getting him back on the field."
With the 14th pick, TFC may have uncovered a gem in a position in the draft that many thought was too late to do so.
