Toronto FC announced Thursday that the club has acquired English striker Luke Moore from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for defender Gale Agbossoumonde. Moore was acquired earlier by Colorado from Chivas USA.

“With our current depth in defence we felt that the opportunity to acquire an attacking player like Luke Moore was the right decision to make at this time for the club as we approach the World Cup break,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “With Luke’s experience, he will be a welcomed addition to our squad and provide more options for us upfront. We’d like to thank Gale for all of his contributions both on and off the pitch and wish him well in Colorado.”

Moore, 28, has made six appearances, starting in two matches in MLS league play this season for Chivas USA. He joined Chivas USA during the off-season from Turkish Super League Club, Sanica Boru Elaziğspor. Moore began his youth career at Aston Villa F.C. and spent the majority of his career with Aston Villa in the English Premier League from 2003-2008. During that time he went on two different loan spells, Wycombe Wanderers F.C. (’03-’04) and West Bromwich Albion F.C. (’07-’08). He joined West Bromwich Albion for the 2008-09 season and remained with the club for two seasons. Moore then signed for Swansea City A.F.C. in January 2011. He was part of Swansea City’s third-place finish in the Football League Championship for 2010-11. The Swans qualified for the playoffs and successfully defeated Reading 4-2 in the finals at Wembley Stadium to earn promotion into the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh club to do so in 20 years. He remained with Swansea City for two seasons before moving to Turkey for the 2013-14 season.

Agbossoumonde, 22, was originally acquired on December 20, 2012 through a weighted lottery at MLS headquarters. In two seasons, Agbossoumonde made 13 appearances, starting in 12 all in MLS league play.
