Seven TFC Players Called to Canada

Canada Soccer announced Friday that seven members of Toronto FC have been called into the Canadian Men’s National Team. Midfielders Manuel Aparicio, Kyle Bekker, Jonathan Osorio, defenders Doneil Henry, Ashtone Morgan, Elias Roubos, and forward Jordan Hamilton have been called into a preseason camp in Florida from January 12-22.


Henry, 20, has earned nine caps for Canada. The native of Brampton, Ontario earned his first cap for Canada's senior team on August 15, 2012 in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago. Recently, Henry was a member of Canada’s squad in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Henry made a combined 22 appearances between MLS League matches and the Amway Canadian Championship last season, scoring one goal for the club.


Osorio, 21, has earned six caps for Canada. He earned his first cap on May 28, 2013 in a friendly match against Costa Rica. Osorio was a member of Canada’s squad in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup where he played in all three group stage matches, starting in two. In his first season as a professional, Osorio made a combined 30 appearances for Toronto FC, scoring five goals and added one assist.


Morgan, 22, has earned eight caps for Canada. He became the first graduate of Toronto FC’s Academy to appear for the Canadian Men’s National Team, when he came on as a substitute against Saint Lucia on October 7, 2011. Morgan was a member of Canada’s 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad. This past season for Toronto FC, Morgan made a combined 24 appearances and added one assist.


Bekker, 23, has earned eight caps for Canada. Bekker made his senior team debut as a starter against Denmark on January 23, 2013. Bekker was also part of Canada’s squad at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. This past season marked Bekker’s first in MLS after being selected third overall in the MLS SuperDraft out of Boston College. Bekker made 11 combined appearances in 2013 for Toronto FC.


Hamilton, 17, has received his first call-up to the senior team. Hamilton previously represented Canada at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last October. Hamilton won a silver medal with Canada at the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship and a Bronze at the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. Hamilton recently signed with the First Team, becoming the ninth Academy player in club history to do so.


Aparicio, 18, also receives his first call-up to the senior team. He was named to Canada’s U-18 national team that competed in the 2013 COTIF U-20 Tournament in l’Alcúdia, Spain in August. Aparicio joined Toronto FC’s First Team on August 8, 2013. 


Roubos, 17, receives his first call-up to the senior team. He made his debut with Canada Soccer’s Youth Program in 2012. Roubos represented Canada at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in UAE last October, and also won Bronze at the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. Roubos currently plays on the Kia Toronto FC Academy Senior Team
