Toronto Picks Four In Supplemental Draft





Toronto FC selected four players in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft held Tuesday afternoon via conference call.

With the first pick in the second round Toronto FC selected forward Ashton Bennett from Coastal Carolina. Bennett, 24, was born in Clarendon, Jamaica but holds Canadian residency. In two seasons with the Chanticleers, Bennett made 47 appearances scoring 39 goals and added 16 assists. He was named a NSCAA First Team All-American both seasons.

With the nineteenth pick in the second round Toronto selected midfielder Jose Gomez out of Creighton University. Gomez, 22, was born in Mexico City, Mexico. In two seasons with the Bluejays, Gomez made 64 appearances scoring 15 goals and added 26 assists.

With the first pick of the third round the Reds selected midfielder Nik Robson from the University of New Mexico. Robson, 23 was born in Auckland, New Zealand and spent three years at the University of Central Florida (UCF) prior to joining New Mexico. In four collegiate seasons, Robson made 78 appearances, scoring 33 goals and added 22 assists.

With their final pick, Toronto selected forward Taylor Morgan in the fourth round out of George Mason University. Morgan, 22 was born in Southampton, England and played three seasons at George Mason. With the Patriots, Morgan appeared in 50 games, scoring 23 goals and added 7 assists.
