The week to come should be a vital one for Toronto FC.

The team is in the final stages of scouting players at the adidas Player Combine in preparation for the MLS SuperDraft in Indianapolis on January 17.

General Manager Kevin Payne has stressed the team’s ability to define this year’s draft because it owns the first and third selections.

Here’s a list of 10 players Payne and the rest of the TFC front office will be considering.

1. Andrew Farrell
Position: Midfielder
School: Louisville
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky

Height:  5-11
Weight: 165
Scouting Report: Described as most athletic front-line player in draft. Excellent instincts. Can play centre back and right back. No surprise if he goes first overall.

2. Walker Zimmerman
Position: Defender
School: Furman
Hometown: Lawrenceville, Georgia
Age: 19
Height: 6-0
Weight: 185
Scouting report: Varied opinions on his MLS readiness.  Prototypical centre-back. Very good in the air.

3. Mikey Lopez
Position: Midfielder
School: University of North Carolina
Hometown: Mission, Texas
Age: 19
Height: 5-8
Weight: 160
Scouting Report: Versatile attacking midfield. Good speed. Very technically sound but not as athletic as some others in the draft.

4. Kyle Bekker
Position: Midfield
School: Boston College

Scouting Report: Very sound technically. Very poised. Centre-mid with some touch but not uniquely athletic.

5. Eriq Zavaleta

Scouting Report:  Jury remains out on his best position. Can play centre-back or striker. Smart player with excellent size. Hardest player in top 10 to handicap.

Scouting Report: Can run. Can score.  Can get behind defenders at any time.  With right team would be a consistent threat.

7. Dillon Powers
Position: Midfielder

Scouting Report: Isn’t blessed with one jaw dropping skill but smart player who won’t hurt you anywhere on the field. Could go in either first or second round.

8. Deshorn  Brown

Height: 6-2
Weight: 170
Scouting Report:  Very fast player with excellent offensive instincts and a hunger to score.

9. John Stertzer
Position: Midfielder

Scouting Report:  Best suited to be an attacking midfielder.  Bright player who is good in the air and handy on set-pieces

Scouting Report:  Excellent vision and playmaking ability. Good understanding of the game.
