TORONTO – New Toronto FC centre back Darren O’Dea would have liked a more enjoyable start to his MLS career.

The Ireland international watched his team concede a late goal on his TFC debut in a 1-0 loss to Kansas City on Saturday, something the BMO Field faithful have experience far too many times over six seasons. 

Once is enough for O’Dea.

"I'm only here four days and I'm sick to death of talking about it,” O’Dea said of Toronto conceding inside the last 10 minutes in two consecutive home matches. Last Wednesday, the defender was on international duty when the Reds dropped a 2-1 lead at the 82nd minute, resulting in a 2-2 draw with Portland.

Further adding to O’Dea’s frustration is that the Kansas City goal – off a deflection from a Kei Kamara free kick – came when Toronto looked as likely as it had all afternoon to nick the visitors.

“It’s bitterly disappointing,” O’Dea told the media. “I think for the large part that was the best spell in the game as well. It’s just disappointing.”

The Irishman’s words will resonate with anyone wishing to see more passion from the Reds. O’Dea has plenty to spare.

“I think you don’t need to play well in football matches, it doesn’t need to be pretty but you need to come away with something”

“Now we are going to fix this problem with the players and get together and stick together and get to the next one.”

Reds will have a chance to turn things around on Wednesday when Toronto visits Ohio to face the Columbus Crew (GOLTV Canada, 7:30 p.m. ET).
