Academy Opens Season With Wins

Toronto FC Academy teams enjoyed a strong start to the Canadian Soccer League First and Reserve divisions on Saturday night at respective season opening matches in Kingston, Ontario.

The Toronto under-18 side defeated Kingston FC 4-2 at Invista Sports Complex, while the Academy under-17s filled the net in a 10-0 walloping of Kingston’s B team.

Mario Kovacevic struck a brace for the U18s, which also received goals from Marko Miketic and Michael Wagenknecht.

The U17s had a longer list on the scoring summary. Mark Wadid and Tre Crosby each scored twice. They were joined on the score sheet by Jordan Strowger, Daniel Jodah, Josh Penello, Manuel Aparicio, Stephen Piliotis and Alain Sargeant.

The U18s will next play at Brantford Galaxy’s Lions Park on May 20 at 6 p.m. ET.  The U17s are in action sooner on May 12 at 4 p.m. ET against SC Toronto B at Downsview Park.
