Out of contract former Toronto FC fullback Danleigh Borman has been selected by the New England Revolution in the first phase of the Re-Entry Draft.
Borman arrived in Toronto last season from New York Red Bulls and immediately became a regular on the left side of Toronto's backline. However, the emergence of homegrown Canadian international Ashtone Morgan - via Toronto FC Academy - made it difficult for Borman to get regular playing time for the BMO Field club.
A native of South Africa, Borman played 22 MLS games for Toronto (18 starts), providing three assists.
Toronto, like most MLS teams, did not use its selection in the Re-Entry Draft. Aside from New England using its pick, Chivas USA selected attacking midfielder Arturo Alvarez and Columbus Crew acquired defender Carlos Mendes.
Second phase of the Re-Entry Process takes place Monday, December 12. More information here.
