The background:

Inspired by you, our 12th Man, Toronto FC will be going out into the community for twelve straight days starting Monday August 8. Players, coaches, front office staff, Academy, community members and organizations will all come together for the purpose of recognizing and supporting important initiatives and efforts in and around our city.  Each day check back here to see what is happening and how you can get involved.

Kicking off this event and showing their continuing community support, Toronto FC players and coaching staff will be on hand Monday August 8 as Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Team Up Foundation, Toronto FC and Kia celebrate the refurbishment of the soccer pitch at Sorauren Park with the local community.

Other highlights of the week

The launch of TFC’s “Community Hero” initiative: there are countless individuals who give their time and knowledge to make our community a better place to live and play. Starting August 9, Toronto FC will highlight one individual a month recognizing all they do to make their community a better place. To launch this program we have found a very worthy individual who has been dedicated to coaching and developing youth soccer for the past 30 years. If you would like to nominate someone for future consideration please email us at community@torontofc.ca and tell us why they are your Community Hero.

On day four TFC will be visiting The Stop; a local community food centre that offers numerous programs to help increase access to healthy foods through initiatives that include a drop-in food bank, community garden and an after school program for kids. TFC front office staff and players will be on site to cook and serve food during the drop-in and be a part of the after school program which teaches kids to prepare healthy meals.

Day seven is all about you, the fans! As part of the Toronto FC community, we would like to invite you out to the Toronto Islands for a BBQ picnic and afternoon of games. Bring your family and come and relax next to the lake.
