BDK Paces TFC At Open Practice

The 2011 Toronto FC Open Practice presented by Danone took place on Tuesday morning at BMO Field.

First assistant coach Bob De Klerk led the training session with roughly 3,000 students, teachers, parents and supporters in the audience. As a special treat former TFC stars Jim Brennan and Danny Dichio took part in the exercises and the scrimmage that followed.

Several Toronto players were unable to participate due to injuries. Defenders Nana Attakora and Dicoy Williams continue to nurse respective ailments. Attakora (quadriceps strain) lightly jogged around the park with midfielder Tony Tchani, who has been sidelined with an ankle contusion since receiving a crunching tackle from David Beckham in a 2-2 draw on June 11 at Los Angeles. Williams hurt his knee at the Gold Cup representing Jamaica.

Forward Alan Gordon (abductor tightness) and winger Jacob Peterson - who suffered a hamstring setback in the LA match - received treatment away from the first team. Both players are doubtful for Saturday's trip to Utah to face Salt Lake (9 p.m. ET on GOL TV Canada).

Midfielder Julian de Guzman was not present at the event. Winter pointed to de Guzman's calf injury that had initially sidelined him for Canada's opening match in the Gold Cup as the culprit.

Toronto FC continues to be without Adrian Cann, Elbekay Bouchiba and Nicholas Lindsay - all had major knee surgeries at various points in the season.
