Reds Receive Attacking Boost

Toronto FC players trained at Downsview Park on Monday morning in the second Community Practice presented by Sport Chek.

Nana Attakora and Alen Stevanovic were not present at the Downsview session that was open to the public. Head coach Aron Winter mentioned a few players remained at BMO Field for treatment. Attakora limped out of Toronto's scoreless match on Saturday at the 89th minute following his first start for the Reds since April 9. Toronto has two away games coming up in Los Angeles and New England and only time will tell if the duo's fitness improves enough to make the trip.

Winter did touch on some encouraging news for Toronto. Alan Gordon, Jacob Peterson and Gianluca Zavarise are close to regaining fitness. All three worked out with the first team and didn't show any visible signs of discomfort. These attacking players could add a boost to the Reds' offence, which mustered just two goals in the last three league matches, including a pair of scoreless draws.

Toronto defender Dicoy Williams and midfielder Julian de Guzman are away on international duty and are set to serve in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup this week. Williams' Jamaica begins play Monday evening against Grenada in Group B, while Canada and de Guzman will take on arch-rival United States in the Group C opener for both countries Tuesday.

Toronto FC will train one more time on Canadian soil before traveling to California to face Los Angeles (June 11), then fly across North America to take on New England four days later in Foxborough.
