DUNDAS, ONTARIO - As part of its nationwide youth soccer program, BMO Financial Group announced today that the Dundas Dragons Under-10 girls team has been selected this week’s winner of the BMO Team of the Week. The team is now eligible to be the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win $125,000 to upgrade their local soccer field.
• Team plays for fun in the off-season and in addition to weekly practice, runs together on the Dundas rail trail every Saturday morning
• Volunteered as a team for the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run
• Team is now finalist for BMO Team of the Week grand prize which includes $125,000 field refurbishment
“The Dundas Dragons are wonderful BMO Team of the Week ambassadors,” said Andrew Furgal, District Vice-President, South Central Ontario, BMO Bank of Montreal. “These young soccer players give back to their community, play for fun in the off-season on top of their weekly practices, and dedicate Saturday mornings to conditioning runs along beautiful Dundas trails. Talk about taking the ball and running with it.”
The Dragons also encourage family fitness, organizing weekly kickarounds with their parents after Friday night practice. What’s more remarkable is that the Dragons have developed all of these activities after being together for only a year.
"I have had the pleasure of coaching the Dundas U10 Girls for the past year and have watched the development not only of their skills, but of their commitment and passion for a game that they love,” said Troy Thompson, coach of the Dundas Dragons. “This dedication and determination was evident off the field last fall when they lent their support for the 30th Anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. This earned them the respect and pride of our community as they received a standing ovation for their efforts in raising awareness for such a worthy cause. The Dundas Dragons are very excited to have been selected as one of the finalists in the BMO Team of the Week contest, and anticipate a great summer, on and off the field. GO DUNDAS DRAGONS GO!”
The Dundas Dragons are the third of 15 youth soccer teams (age 7-12) across Canada that will be selected between April 1 and June 30 as weekly BMO Team of the Week winners based on team pride, spirit, community commitment and passion for the game. The winners will then vie for the title of BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion, to be selected by the Canadian public through online voting as of August 1.

BMO Team of the Week Game Plan
From April 1 to June 30, Canadian soccer coaches and parents can nominate their favourite soccer team by logging on to www.BMOsoccer.com.
A panel of judges will select a weekly winner and each BMO Team of the Week will receive $500, track suits and a gift to a charity of their choice.
Canadians can vote for their favourite BMO Team of the Week beginning in August. The Champion will receive $125,000 toward a field refurbishment, a trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game, and $5,000 to a charity of their choice.
