Jimmy B Building His Squad

Toronto FC Academy U17 coach Jim Brennan.

Supporters at BMO Field used to sing "We all dream of a team of Jimmy Bs," and now they have their wish.

Well, sort of.

Former Toronto FC captain and the first player signing in Reds’ five year history, Jim Brennan, is now the head coach of the Academy U-17 squad and the former Canadian international is building his own team in the TFC family.

This week the U-17 program added two new players with some local fanfare in Windsor, Ontario.

Marco Bernabo and Brendan Woodfull have been signed by Toronto and as part of the club’s commitment to a $17.5 million youth initiative, TFC is moving the pair from Windsor to Toronto where they will be provided with housing, schooling and regular training with Toronto FC’s Academy program.

"Marco and Brendan are great guys," said Brennan. "I'm looking forward to working with them on a daily basis."

"They are both very good players who are willing to learn and improve. I think they have the right attitude and commitment to go far in the game."

The news broke in Windsor on Thursday, which garnered Bernabo and Woodfull a full length feature in The Windsor Star, that includes a brief biography of the players and comments from Toronto FC Academy director Stuart Neely. READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE.
