Toronto FC announced Wednesday that defender Adrian Cann has chosen to leave the team’s preseason training camp and return to Toronto.

The 30-year-old was not with the squad when the team left Orlando, Florida earlier today to fly to Charleston, South Carolina where they will participate in the Carolina Challenge Cup.

Cann has turned down the club’s offer of a new contract and wants to negotiate further.

“We are disappointed that Adrian has decided to return home at this time,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter. “Adrian is heading into the second year of a four year contract. We are currently in discussions with the League regarding the situation and are assessing the options available to us.”
