Maicon Should Be Fit For Saturday

Toronto FC’s squad headed to Seattle on Thursday afternoon after training at Cherry Beach earlier in the day.

Striker Maicon Santos trained on Thursday and should be fit enough to be included in the squad for Saturday’s match against the Sounders. The Brazilian appears to have recovered from a knock to the head sustained in the goalless draw at home to Real Salt Lake in the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday.

Midfielder Martin Saric returned to training following a hamstring injury but won’t be involved in Seattle. Joseph Nane remains sidelined.

“Maicon should be ok,” said interim head coach Nick Dasovic after training on Thursday. “He trained today normally so that’s a good indication. Saric and Nane are out for this weekend but we are looking for one or both of them to be back for the game at Chivas next week.”

“The Champions League is over and we have put that behind us. The spirit has been good and the guys are ready for the trip. It’s a great place to play football and if you can’t get yourself motivated to play their then you have an issue,” said the coach.
