Saturday Decision On Strikers

Toronto FC strike duo Maicon Santos and Mista both trained with the team on Friday at BMO Field. Coach Preki will assess their fitness tomorrow before deciding if they can be included in the squad to face D.C. United on Saturday (kick off 4:00 p.m. live on CBC).

Mista missed the goalless draw in Chicago on Wednesday and Maicon came off the bench in the second half for his first action since leaving the win over Chivas on August 7 with a knee injury.

“They both trained this morning,” said coach Preki. “We will just have to see if there are any reactions. Mista has been having trouble with his leg and I will have to talk with the trainers and see how both players feel. I will need to see if they can give us something and what that something is.”

“We know the importance of the game and we know that whoever steps on the field will leave everything out there.  We have been playing a lot of games and we have to find a way to get a result.”

Chad Barrett continues on the comeback trail and on Friday he took part in warm up with the team for the first time since a hamstring injury. “He was sprinting today,” said Preki. “Hopefully he will come back to his soon, but we don’t really have much time to practice right now and there is a lot of travel. We have to be smart with him and bring him in slowly.”
