Toronto FC will have to better its MLS road form if the Reds are to remain in the race for an MLS Cup postseason berth. Toronto players gained some confidence by battling back from two one-goal deficits in Honduras and drawing Motagua 2-2 in the CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round in their last away tilt. However, on that same trip the Reds lost 1-0 in Kansas City in an MLS game. The urgency shown in Tegucigalpa has to be copied in every match as Toronto nears the final third of the regular season schedule.

New York has stocked up on many stars but at least four regulars will be away on international duty. Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul, defender Roy Miller and midfielders Rafael Marquez and Dane Richards will miss this match. Thierry Henry is nursing a strained groin but should be available for selection. Juan Pablo Angel has scored six goals against Toronto in four seasons.
