Saric & White To Miss Philly

Midfielder Martin Saric and forward O'Brian White will both miss Toronto FC's match in Philadelphia against the Union at PPL on Saturday (3:30 p.m. live on CBC and The FAN 590).

Saric missed training with a leg injury on Thursday and White has been absent all week due to illness. “Martin has a quad injury and is definitely out for this game. O’Brian has been ill and has missed training every day this week so he will also be out.” said coach Preki after the team trained at Cherry Beach on Thursday morning.

Mista is now available to make his debut for Toronto FC, but Preki indicated that the Spanish striker won’t be in the starting line-up. “We will see how the game goes. We have been working on his fitness and he has been trying to push himself. I think he is coming along nicely. Are we going to start him? Most likely not. Is he going to see some minutes? Probably he will, but how much he plays will depend on the match,” the coach explained.

Preki also hopes to see Maicon’s fitness improving with each day of training. “He has not played too many games in the last two or three months so we will have to be patient with both him and Mista.”

The Reds will train again at Cherry Beach on Friday before leaving for Philadelphia later in the day.
