Bolton Wanderers have announced their squad for their upcoming pre-season tour in North America, including their Carlsberg Cup clash against Toronto FC at BMO Field on July 21st.
The English Premier League team will play against Charlotte Eagles and Charleston Battery before heading north to Toronto. United States international Stuart Holden hasn’t been named in the squad as he is having time off after playing at the World Cup, but Bolton manager Owen Coyle says Holden could join the squad for the match in Toronto.
“I have given the three lads who have been at the World Cup until July 25. Chung-Yong Lee has played about a year-and-a-half without a break so it is important that he gets the opportunity to recharge his batteries. Stuart will probably meet up with us in Toronto because he is over there anyhow.”
Bolton’s squad returned from their summer break to start preseason training last week. “The boys have come back and worked ever so hard,” said Coyle. “Preseason is a gradual progression and we have to make sure that we peak on August 14 when we play Fulham.”
