Fatigue A Factor In Vancouver

Dwayne De Rosario

Toronto FC captain Dwayne De Rosario believes the team's 10 day road trip was starting to take its toll on the players by the end of Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw in Vancouver. The Reds will return home unbeaten and without having given up a goal from matches against Montreal, Los Angeles and the Whitecaps.

"As the game progressed, the guys were definitely a little leggy and mentally fatigued,” he said after the match at Swangard Stadium which was played in front of a crowd of 4,928. “In all fairness, we came away from here with a point and we had quite a few chances.”

“We knew it was going to be a tough game and we knew that Vancouver would be up for the game. We tried to match their intensity and thankfully we were able to come away with a point. If we don't clinch it when Vancouver goes to Montreal, then hopefully we will be able to get the job done when we play the Whitecaps at home."

TFC are top of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship standings with seven points from three matches. The Whitecaps are second with two points from two matches.

De Rosario is looking forward to returning to Vancouver to face the Whitecaps in MLS next season. "The fans here are great. They are very supportive. I think there will be a great attendance here when Vancouver goes to MLS. It is nice to see fans coming out and supporting them for this game."

De Rosario will now travel to Buenos Aires to join the Canada squad ahead of the international friendly against Argentina on Monday. He will miss Toronto FC’s match against New England Revolution at BMO Field on Saturday.
