Toronto Acquires Nick LaBrocca

Toronto FC announced Thursday they have acquired midfielder Nick LaBrocca and a 3rd Round MLS SuperDraft pick in 2011 from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for defender Marvell Wynne.

“The team is looking forward to having Nick join the club, and we are excited for him to get here to begin working with the team,” said head coach Preki.
“He’s a consistent player and will make our midfield a lot stronger. Marvell is a great athlete and we wish him all the best, he’s been a big part of this club and I’m sure he will be missed by the fans.”
LaBrocca, 25 begins his fourth season in MLS after being drafted by the Rapids in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. In 2009, he appeared in 29 games with 28 starts and logged a career high 2,434 minutes. The midfielder also finished last season with two goals, tying a career high. Last season he was named the Rapids Young Player of the Year.

In 2008, LaBrocca was the only member of the Colorado team to play in all 30 of the team’s regular season matches. It was that same season he also scored his first career MLS goal, a game winner against New England.

Internationally, he participated in a camp with U.S. national team in November of 2008, but was a member of the national team from U-14 to U-23.

LaBrocca will arrive in Toronto and travel with the team to Columbus for their first game of the regular season on Saturday.
