Dwyer joins TFC having scored 83 goals in his Major League Soccer career (regular season and playoffs). He most recently played for Orlando City, where he appeared in 70 matches over four seasons, scoring 24 goals. He joined Orlando City via a trade with Sporting Kansas City on July 25, 2017. In 2020, Dwyer made two appearances for the Lions before he was sidelined for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Dwyer, born and raised in England, also played with Orlando in USL Pro in 2013 when he was loaned to the club by Sporting Kansas City. He made 17 appearances and recorded 22 goals in all competitions (USL Pro regular season, Playoffs and Open Cup) before getting called back to Sporting KC. Dwyer scored the winning goal for SKC in the 2013 Eastern Conference Final against Houston to lead his team to the MLS Cup final, where they went on to become MLS Cup champions.

Dwyer was originally selected 16th overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City out of the University of South Florida. He made his MLS debut on September 2, 2012, against Toronto FC, and registered his first goal in MLS against the New York Red Bulls on August 3, 2013. During his time with Kansas City, Dwyer made a combined 150 appearances and scored 66 goals (MLS regular season, Playoffs, Open Cup and Concacaf Champions League).

Married to former US Women’s National team star Sydney Leroux, Dwyer became eligible to play internationally for the United States when he gained American citizenship in 2017. He has earned four caps with the United States national team, scoring two goals.
