Toronto FC is a proud supporter of youth soccer across Ontario and Canada. We are committed to growing the sport, at all levels of play, in an effort to grow the future of soccer in our country.
This year, with the help of our founding partner, Kia Canada, Toronto FC and Kia successfully hosted the 4th annual Kia Cup. This year’s tournament focused on recreational athletes in the community by providing them with a unique soccer experience. Sixteen U10 soccer teams, eight male and eight female, were invited to a family fun day where each team participated in two non-competitive games at Kia Training Grounds, Toronto FC’s professional training facility.
Activations such as an inflatable sport obstacle course, live music, a BBQ lunch and facility tour of Kia Training Grounds, that included Toronto FC’s locker room, were all provided free of charge by Toronto FC and Kia to athletes and families. This year Toronto FC’s first team player Justin Morrow and our Alumni and Community Ambassador, Dwayne De Rosario even stopped by to welcome families and sign autographs. At the end of the day each player walked away with a Toronto FC Athlete Participant Package, a Kia Cup trophy and an experience they will never forget. More importantly, more than 400 members of our community were able to come together and play the game they love in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.
Thank you again to all the coaches, teams and families that participated in making the 2016 Kia Cup a fantastic day!
