Mikael Khalam is an exceptional young man raised in the St. James Town community. During the pandemic Mickey founded TKOP Academy, a non-for profit organization that aims to transform the lives of underprivileged Black and racialized youth by providing them with a combination of mentorship and free sports training that uniquely develops them into future leaders who will influence positive change in their communities.

Harprit Gill is a Financial Advisor, Educator, Community Leader and Entrepreneur. She has taken her passion for community work & entrepreneurship and combined it with her love of educating people on financial literacy and providing financial solutions. she noticed the lack of financial literacy and the barriers to accessing sound financial resources and advisors. She decided to take the problem in her own hands and bridge the gaps to ensure Canadians have a trusted individual/ who is relatable and takes a bottom-up approach to financial planning. She on a mission to changing lives of everyday individuals and families. Her goal is to revolutionize communities by teaching people how to build and sustain wealth through a holistic community-based approach.

Abdifatah Hussein

Abdifatah Hussein is a community organizer, activist and spoken word artist with a deep passion for creating platforms and connections within his community. Abdifatah is the co-founder of Hidaayah House, a collaborative movement, born out of a dire need to address the dramatic increase in gun-violence, incarceration rates, and drug use within the Somali Youth by providing emergency supports to communities, and hosting creative events to bring people together. Abdifatah is also a Provincial Youth Outreach Worker in the province of Ontario, a certified mental health peer support, a trusted crisis responder, host, facilitator and more.

Julian Waithe is a phenomenal therapist with over 10 years of experience. He believes in the undeniable power of listening and acceptance. Julian has worked in community and mental health field with young people and their families dealing with a broad range of mental health challenges. His background is in Dialectical Behaviour, Solution focused, and Mindfulness based approaches. His passion in supporting our community in the difficulties of life including violence, family, school, work, identity exploration, invalidation in life, racial trauma, and grief. Julian understands the diverse issues of the diverse Black community and has lifted many people during the pandemic in ways words cannot express.

Imani Abukar is the co-founder of Care Kits Toronto. A non-profit organization that provides comfort and food security to vulnerable individuals by distributing kits that promote health and wellness. Imani has a passion for her community, health, and wellness. She has witnessed firsthand the benefits giving back has on an individual and the community.
