Director, Sport Science
Jim Liston was hired as Toronto FC’s Director, Sports Science for the start of the 2014 season working with the Kia Toronto FC Academy. He joined the first team on August 31, 2014.
Liston brings a highly distinguished work history that involves time as strength and conditioning coach with three MLS clubs, LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew and Chivas USA. He is also the founder and president of CATZ (Competitive Athlete Training Zone), one of the top training centers in the United States. CATZ athletes have won championships at the professional level and have had gold medal success at the Olympic Games. Jim and his team at CATZ have built an entire curriculum and coaches training program designed to optimize the development of the growing athlete.
Liston helped launch a new department within Toronto FC as he focuses on sport science innovation and helping athletes reach their highest potential. Liston will draw on the experience he has gained as the State Director of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Chairman of the Community Services Commission, Councilor for the USC Division of Physical Therapy and as an expert advisor to Children’s Health magazine.
Liston received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters Degree in Health Science from Springfield College.
