The Young Reds are back after a two and a half week break as they travel to North Carolina to take on North Carolina FC in a Saturday night showdown at WakeMed Soccer Park.

This will be the Young Reds first ever trip to Cary and just the second matchup between the two sides. The two teams clashed in April on a cool night at BMO Field. The Reds’ home opener ended 0-0 with Angelo Cavalluzzo making a stunning save at the death to earn the Reds a point.

North Carolina has not enjoyed as much success as they would have hoped for in their first season in the USL. The team is 5-8-5 and sits seven points out of the final playoff spot in the east. They’ve won just once in their last five games.

Two players to watch on NCFC are Daniel Rios and Kyler Bekker. Rios leads the team in scoring with nine goals in 17 appearances. The Mexican U-20 international is on loan at NCFC from Mexican giants CD Guadalajara.

Bekker, the former TFC first-round draft pick, is in his first season with NCFC. The native of Oakville leads the team with seven assists and has added a goal in 18 appearances. Bekker has been capped 18 times by the Canadian Men’s National Team.

Toronto FC II could be without a few players as a couple of TFC II regulars were in Ottawa on Wednesday as the first team kicked off their title defense in the 2018 Canadian Championship.

Kickoff from Cary is set for 7:00 PM. You can tune in for the match right here on TFC2.ca.
