Today at 2 PM, the MLS will be holding the 2016 Waiver Draft. The Waiver Draft is an opportunity for MLS clubs to select players who have been waived by their former clubs but are not eligible for Re-Entry or Free Agency.

The waiver draft is primarily made up of younger players who are newer to the league.

The order of the waiver draft is determined by the previous year’s standings. The order will be the reverse order of the standings with the Chicago Fire holding the first selection. Toronto FC will have the 19th selection in this year’s draft.

Any player that is selected in the Waiver Draft who is under contract will be automatically added to the club’s roster. Clubs that claim out of contract players must give the selected player a genuine contact offer.
