The website calculates its player rankings using statistical data. Giovinco's rating was 0.25 points higher than the next best player (Osvaldo Alonso). 

Michael Bradley also made an appearance in the top 10, coming in at number 8. The Toronto FC captain scored a 7.28 on the final ratings. He finished in a tie with 2016 Golden Boot winner Bradley Wright-Phillips.
