Three Keys: Next Man Up

Michael Bradley and Will Johnson will be out for six weeks after picking up knee injuries and Jozy Altidore, Daniel Lovitz and Ashtone Morgan remain out. Steven Beitashour and Damien Perquis are questionable while Williams is suspended due to his red card against Orlando City SC. Simply put, Toronto FC’s depth will be tested in the coming weeks. Benoit Cheyrou was terrific in June and will be relied upon even more in the month of the July. The 35-year-old, however, will need his rest as well. The onus to pick up the slack will fall on the rest of the midfield. Jay Chapman, Marky Delgado, Tsubasa Endoh and Jonathan Osorio will be relied upon heavily. Osorio and Delgado played major roles in the Canadian Championship triumph. They’ll be asked to do the same for the Reds in regular season play.

Injury Update On Michael Bradley and Will Johnson

Toronto FC announced Friday that midfielders Michael Bradley and Will Johnson are expected to be out of the line-up for six weeks. Bradley has been diagnosed with a knee sprain and Johnson with a tibial plateau fracture.

Match Notes

  • Sounders FC suffered a second consecutive defeat by shutout – their fifth loss in their last six matches – falling 2-0 to New York City FC on Saturday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.
  • Sounders FC won the lone meeting between the clubs a year ago, a 2-1 victory at CenturyLink Field on Sept. 5, their seventh win in 10 all-time meetings between the clubs.
  • TFC last won at BMO Field vs. Seattle on April 25, 2010; Sounders FC have won on their last two visits to Toronto, and on three of four games there all-time.
