Toronto FC recorded their fourth clean sheet of the season on Saturday, beating FC Dallas 1-0 in the home Opener at BMO Field. For context, the Reds only recorded five clean sheets in all of 2015.
A big part of TFC's defensive success this year has been the play of Damien Perquis and Clint Irwin. The duo were rewarded for another composed performance by being named to the MLS TOTW.
Irwin made three saves and came up with a game saving kick save on Fabian Castillo in the half. Perquis helped keep FCD's high octane offence in check over the course of 90 minutes. Sebastian Giovinco was named to the bench after assisting on Tsubasa Endoh's goal.
