Brad Davis opened his Sporting Kansas City account to give his new team a 1-0 win Sunday night over Toronto FC at Children’s Marcy Park.


The 70th-minute goal from the former Houston Dynamo man, taking a Dom Dwyer feed to cut it inside the far post, broke up a nip-and-tuck match in the intraconference meeting to give Sporting their third win in as many matches to start the 2016 season.


The loss ends Toronto’s two-game unbeaten streak, one win and two draws, to start the season.


Toronto nearly got on the board first in the in the 62nd minute when Tsubasa Endoh sent in a right-footed shot that Sporting goalkeeper Tim Melia was narrowly able to get a piece of to send off the crossbar and over.
