Toronto FC is ready for their first 90 minutes of pre-season action after arriving in Southern California on Wednesday afternoon.

The Reds will take on the University of California, Irvine (4 PM PT/ 7 PM ET) at Anteater Stadium on the UCI campus this Saturday.

So far, so good for Greg Vanney’s side, who entered camp prepared for the rigors offered by the preseason.

“We’re at such a better place then we were at the beginning of last year,” said assistant head coach Robin Fraser following Friday’s final training session at the UCI campus.

“The whole team came in very fit and it showed with our test results,” added left back Justin Morrow. “The coaches have been happy with it. It’s good to move on from that and get to playing.”

It is possible a small number of first team regulars will watch from the sidelines, including Sebastian Giovinco and newcomers Clint Irwin, Steven Beitashour and Drew Moor.

“We have a lot of players that we need to look at,” said Fraser. “It’s our first time out and we’re only a few days into the preseason."

The Reds opted for a similar strategy last preseason, and it will give an opportunity for the younger members of the squad to get a long look during the first outing of 2016’s prologue.

Projected Starting XI: Roberts; Lovitz, Zavaleta, Williams, Morgan; Mannella, Chapman; Endoh, Osorio, Delgado; Hamilton.
