Daniel Lovitz gives back to his hometown

Ahead of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia, representatives from a number of MLS teams volunteered with Philabundance, a non-profit organization that aims to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley.

Organized by the Philadelphia Union Foundation and MLS Works, team staff from around the league were joined by draftees to sort and pack food for donation to local homeless shelters and food banks. Hometown boy and Toronto FC’s own Daniel Lovitz decided to stop by and make a contribution as well. Lovitz is no stranger to the hunger-relief organization, as he also volunteered at Philabundance during high school.

"It's great to be able to come here and help out an organization right in my own backyard," said Lovitz. “The work that Philabundance does to help out those in need is so important, and I'm happy to give my time to help out."

Lovitz and the collective MLS group sorted and packed a total of over ten thousand pounds of food during their afternoon of volunteer work.
