Day eight of TFC//TWELVE took place at St. Andrews College in Aurora during a Toronto FC Community Practice.  TFC players wore “JACK” on the back of their training jerseys in an effort to help raise awareness and show their support of a very special little boy and his family.  




Jack is a three and a half year old vivacious young man who was diagnosed at 12 weeks with Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA), a rare medical condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce red blood cells and as a result the patient must have a blood transfusion every three weeks.  This disorder is frequently diagnosed within the first year of life and is so rare that there are approximately just a thousand known cases in the world.




On August 20 Toronto hosted Jack and his family at a Community Practice with a VIP tent stocked with as many of Jack’s favourite treats. The biggest treat of all was the at the end of training when Coach Paul Mariner and TFC players went over for a visit.
