Academy Wins Big Saturday

Toronto FC Academy Senoirs (U19) beat the Windsor Stars 5-2 on Saturday.

A poor start to the first half saw the Reds fall behind 1-0, but Danny Dichio's team recovered and took a 2-1 lead into intermission.

The Stars pulled level at 2-2 early in the second half, but Toronto restored its lead 3-2 shortly thereafter.

Academy director Stuart Neely said the match was "touch and go for a while after that," but was happy to see "the flood gates open" as TFC cruised to a 5-2 victory powered by Stefan Vukovic's second hat-trick of the Canadian Soccer League season. Team captain Jordan Murrell bagged a brace to complete Toronto's five-star performance.

Three Toronto FC reserve team players, and Academy graduates - Doneil Henry, Matt Stinson and Keith Makubuya - featured in the game for the Reds while the senior team is on the road to face Colorado Rapids on Sunday at 7 p.m. (GOL TV Canada).

The U19s have six points from three games, they have scored nine goals while conceding five and currently sits third in the CSL First Division.
