Gordon Disciplined In Cann Incident

NEW YORK (October 13, 2010) – The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee has issued a two-game suspension and a fine to Chivas USA forward Alan Gordon for actions taken against Toronto FC defender Adrian Cann in the Oct. 9 Chivas USA - Toronto FC game.

The action, which endangered the safety of his opponent, was seen by the officiating crew and Gordon received a caution in the 74th minute.  After reviewing the incident, the MLS Disciplinary Committee unanimously decided that the action constituted violent conduct, a red card offense, and that Gordon should be suspended for two games and fined $1000. Gordon will serve his suspension during Chivas USA’s next two regular season games: Friday at Seattle and Oct. 20 at San Jose.

Fines collected are donated to MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer's community outreach initiative dedicated to addressing important social issues affecting young people and serves as a platform for both League and club philanthropic programs.  MLS W.O.R.K.S. seeks to establish Major League Soccer as a leader for improving the lives of people through sport.
