Reds Get Set For Orlando

Positional drills was the order of the day for Toronto on Friday ahead of preseason match.

Toronto FC players took part in positional drills only on Friday, saving their legs for the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic set to start for them on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET on TorontoFC.ca via Major League Soccer.

Head coach Aron Winter worked with the defenders, first assistant Bob de Klerk took charge of the midfield, assistant Jason Bent put the younger players through their paces, while director of player development Paul Mariner put his shooting boots on, guiding the wingers and forwards.

Disney First Kick

The tournament gets underway on Friday with teams in the first group or “Pool 1” going at it. Houston will take on Sporting Kansas City, while in the later match Montreal will play Vancouver. Toronto players and staff may attend the second contest to check out their Voyageurs Cup rivals.

From Sweden

BK Hacken trained on the field next to Toronto on Friday. The squad from the land of IKEA is still in its ‘some assembly required’ phase of preseason. Toronto will be tested against the Europeans on Tuesday, February 28 at 6 p.m. ET in the second Pool 2 match for both teams. The Swedes – finished sixth in their league last year – will start the tournament against Toronto’s MLS rival FC Dallas on Saturday.
