Wallingford, Pa. (October 16, 2011)- Toronto FC's senior squad enjoyed an undefeated weekend in Philadelphia, with the Reserve Team winning 3-1 over the Union on Sunday morning, to complement the 1-1 result that earned the first team a hard-fought point the previous night at Chester's PPL Park.

Javier Martina opened the scoring for Toronto, while Zach Pfeffer netted a goal for the Union. But two own goals by the the Philly defence proved to be their undoing.

Morgan Langley got the Union started with two shots early but Toronto FC Academy goalkeeper Chad Bush thwarted both attempts.  Keith Makubuya gave the visitors their first big chance in the eighth minute but the shot sailed high and wide of goal.

Both teams continued to pepper the goalkeepers with shots but could not convert.  Toronto stepped up the offensive pressure, earning five straight corner kicks but could not break the deadlock until the 27th minute when Martina blasted a shot in to the bottom left hand corner of goal.

Toronto added to their lead 10 minutes later when Stefan Vukovic dribbled down the right side of the field and sent a ball into the box that deflected off Union defender Ryan Richter and just past the reach of goalkeeper Chase Harrison to make it a 2-0 game at the half.

Langley had a few chances to put Philly on the board in the opening minutes of the second stanza, his best chance, a rocket that just cleared over the cross bar.

Philadelphia's Danny Mwanga flicked the ball around a defender to Pfeffer, whose finish cut Toronto's lead to 2-1 at the hour mark.

The comeback bid was short lived, however, as another Union own goal made it 3-1 in favor of Toronto in the 81st minute.

The teams continued to battle but neither would find the back of the net again, preserving the 3-1 victory for Toronto FC.
